All-Time Favourites #1: Eric Rondepierre

I love an artist who works with old images of any sort and with decaying images in particular. Eric Rondepierre focused, during the first phase of his career, on singling out images from old cinema and manipulating them, somehow forcing time to overcome them even more (in fact, I think cinema isn't used enough in other visual arts to its merit).

I've always been cautious with this kind of nostalgia creating. Is simulating old pictures the same as finding old pictures?
I haven't been able to make up my mind about this.

He isn't simulating old pictures. The pictures are old, he's just editing them.

I figured you'd like this, since you like The Caretaker. Kinda the same thing.

Well that makes them more interesting. Haha, I seem to have this odd streak about me right now; too much theorising.

The Caretaker? I had them pegged as being more.... like the Disintegration Loops?

I don't know... but it is nostalgia inducing, can't deny that. So that's why I made the connection.
